Taskforce E-Learning

E-learning is concerned with the use of all kinds of ICT in education. E-learning can support learning and/or assessment in face-to-face education as well as in blended learning or online (distance) education. E-learning can support the essential activities of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) - constructive, co-operative, contextual and selfdirected learning - and can make these activities more efficient. Which type of e-learning is suitable, depends on the goal: better learning outcomes, more interaction between students, stimulating reflection, reduction of time for teachers, or distance education?

The Taskforce E-learning supports planning groups and departments of the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (FHML) with the (project-based) design, realisation and implementation of innovative applications of e-learning. Often, existing tools are used that are available within Maastricht University (UM) or on the internet. In some cases, new tools are being developed. A second task of the taskforce is the dissemination of knowledge and experiences in the field of e-learning, for instance by giving workshops and training sessions, the yearly e-learning afternoon for teachers, and by setting up digital channels such as websites, wikis or blogs. Furthermore, the Taskforce E-learning has an advisory role within FHML and UM-wide, for instance in the e-learning pillar of the Leading in Learning programme.
