Taskforce Programme Evaluation

Description

  • To provide the faculty with evaluative data about the quality of the educational programme to enhance continuous improvement and to account for the quality of the educational programme.
  • To give advice on how to use evaluative data to improve courses.
  • To give trainings on how to advance the use of evaluative data for continuous improvement of the quality of the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences' curricula and for the further enhancement of a quality culture within the Institute for Education.   


Activities

  • Developing of valid and reliable instruments to measure educational quality.
  • Providing information about the quality of several key elements of the educational programmes and key teaching roles to obtain insight in strengths and aspects that need improvement. The instruments used are merely questionnaires (five-point Likert scale items). The respondents are merely students. Open-ended questions and interviews are used to obtain insight in specific elements of the educational programme that need improvement.
  • Reporting evaluative data about the quality of the key elements of the curricula to provide various bodies within the organisation with information (e.g. for the management information system or for internal and external reviews and accreditation bodies).
  • Advising and training of coordinators, teachers and students about how to enhance the use of evaluative data for improving the quality of their curricula and the development of a quality culture in which evaluative data are used to continuously improve the quality of the educational programmes.
  • Doing research in the area of internal quality assurance in order to enhance the use of evaluative data.
  • The activities take place within the medical curricula (regular, International track Medicine, Arts Klinisch Onderzoeker), Health Sciences curriculum and Biomedical Sciences curriculum.

 
Projects

  • Training students
    Training for students on how to provide teachers with feedback (in collaboration with the Taskforce Faculty Development). This is a training for students on how to provide teachers with feedback, e..g. after observing a lecture, in order to enhance quality improvement.
  • Workshop staff
    Workshop for staff and student members of Educational Committees. The aim of this workshop is to train staff and student members within Educational Committees about how to improve educational quality based on evaluative data.
